The St. James Garden Ministry is dedicated to enhancing the parish grounds throughout the growing season and working with volunteer groups to plan and carry out special garden projects. Our team has a passion for respecting and caring for God’s green earth and seeing the fruits of our labor blossom and beautify our church property. Our community garden has also provided nutritious food choices for our less fortunate brothers and sisters in metro Detroit areas who have little access to fresh produce. Please join us in the Garden Ministry!
All are welcome to join our Gardening Angels to help enhance our grounds this growing season. Families are also encouraged to participate on Planting Day, but volunteers can participate throughout the warm months to water the plants and harvest vegetables from our Community Garden.
Areas to be planted: Annual flower beds and pots near the Religious Ed entrance (since that will be our main entrance to church for most of the summer), the east and west entrances to the church, as well as vegetable plants in our Community Vegetable Garden, on the south side of the Religious Ed building.
Please check out the beautiful new fencing around the Veggie Garden that our Facilities Manager George Mush created. Great work, George - many thanks!
Our Meditation Garden Dedication has been rescheduled for Sunday, June 11, after the 11:30 mass. A reception will follow in the lobby of the Religious Ed building. Please join us to celebrate this special event!
As a reminder, you can still order engraved bricks for the Garden to honor a special person or occasion. Our landscaper will swap out blank bricks for any new ones you order. Please click on the image below to be directed to the Brick Order Form, or contact us at: sjgardeningangels@gmail.com
