Caring for those who are sick is a corporal work of mercy and something we are proud to have a ministry for at St. James. We have volunteers who work very hard to care for all the sick and homebound in our parish.
St. James covers the first and fourth weekends of each month and every Friday at Ascension Providence Park Novi, A group of volunteers from St. James brings Communion to Catholic patients at Ascension Providence Park Novi. If you are interested in this ministry, please contact
If you would like to become a Eucharist Minister please follow the following steps
1) Fill out a volunteer application. It can be downloaded at www.ascension.org/volunteerNovi
2) Complete the hospital's new volunteer orientation process.
3) Shadow a current Eucharistic Minister once or twice to learn specific protocols.

HOMEBOUND MINISTRY A parishioner may be homebound due to age, illness, physical and/or mental incapacities, and unable to attend Masses. The Homebound Ministry is aimed at helping the homebound parish member stay connected to the parish community and activities by bringing most importantly, Our Lord, present in the Holy Eucharist and other materials like the bulletin, newsletter, prayer cards/books and also rendering any other needed services. Sacraments of Anointing of the Sick and Reconciliation could be administered by the Pastor when needed or requested.
